Facebook is continuing to have problems with security. As reported by PC World, the latest issue revolves around a large batch of emails which users had requested to remain private in their profiles but which were made public last night due to a glitch. The problem lasted for 30 minutes before Facebook fixed the problem.
One suggestion as to what caused the problem is that it might have been related to the company’s recently announced changes to its privacy settings. According to PC World writer Paul Suarez, “One of those changes [to Facebook’s Privacy Policy and Statement of Rights and Responsibilities] would make it possible for Facebook to send your name, photo, friend list, and any public information about you and your friends to preapproved third-party Web sites.” Making a slight change to how information is broadcast could have triggered the error.
